The Foxes Farm, located in Farnham, VA raises Katahdin Sheep and is available for purchase by the Whole Share.

 

Katahdin provides a unique tasting, very lean meat. It’s flavor and texture are often preferred over traditional lamb breeds. It is increasingly recommended as the best tasting breed. This breed also offers lower cholesterol than regular lamb breeds (such as Dorset, Hampsire, Merino).

 

Lamb is a rich source of many minerals and vitamins, including, Iron, B12, Zinc, Phosphorus, Selenium and Niacin.

HOW TO PURCHASE 

A Deposit of $300 will be required to reserve your Lamb selection.

Since all of our animals are harvested after they are sold, advance reservations are required.

 

Reservations are accepted until SOLD OUT. Don't wait, reserve today. 

A Cut sheet will be available to select from prior to processing, and hanging weigh and updated cost will be calculated once processed and weight.

 

The butchers processing fee will be calculated based on the hanging weight and updated to the customer. Please note that the butchers fee varies depending on the butcher you select.

Lamb shares are $7.5 per pound plus the butchers fee.

We raise our sheep on grass and they eat natural pasture grass for their entire lives.

They do not have feedlots and thrive on a NO – Grain diet.

 

Our pastures are NEVER sprayed with herbicides.

 

We practice rotational grazing, to improve the quality of our pastures.

 

We also practice low stress handling for all our animals and we do NOT use growth hormones.

PURCHASING & COST INFORMATION

Our Lamb has a $7.5 per pound hanging weight that will be paid to The Foxes Farm.  

For example, a lamb with a 65lb hanging weight and 55lb take home weight in cuts, will cost $487 paid to The Foxes Farm, with about $90 paid to the butcher for a total of $577.

 

This averages only $10.50 per pound cost in take home meat! 

 

$90 is an average processing fee cost paid to the butcher upon pickup.

 The butcher is paid a processing fee upon pickup.

The butchers processing fee will be calculated based on the hanging weight and updated to the customer.
